if you have some spare time (about 3 min) please write a brief comment, ie ‘I got it working on exchange 2007’ or ‘this damn think is not working on exchange 1800’. You will help me know that it’s stable or fix some errors. Thanks

  1. Hi!

    I’m trying to test freepops&owa. Is my 1º Aproach to LUA and
    Freepops… I don’t know work works, how debug, etc… but maybe I can
    help with feedback.

    The 1º step is connect to my account to made some test.

    Look at https://eme.email.accenture.com… I don’t find why SSL is invalid.

  2. Your username and a slash are missing in both cases. Use these

    your-username@owa?loginurl=https://eme.email.accenture.com/
    your-username@owa?loginurl=http://spa-basic-exchange.mail2web.com/exchange/

    thanks for testing the thing, thanks for the test account, thanks for the second site that uses basic authentication :-)

  3. Hi!

    Please test mail2web.com account.
    User have this format user@mail2web.com ¿how configure it under Freepops?
    Also check the other domain… I don’t know why fails.

  4. It’s not working for me:-( I got this error:
    LUAY: lua error message:
    LUAY: lua_unofficial//owa.lua:197: bad argument #1 to ‘gfind’ (string expected, got nil)

    this is my user name
    d.hout@owa?loginurl=http://webmail.prorail.nl/exchange/

    I use FreePops with thunderbird

  5. i see that you have forgotten an s, the site is https, so use d.hout@owa?loginurl=https://webmail.prorail.nl/exchange/ But this site does not look like an owa site to me. Are you sure it’s owa?

  6. I’ve installed FreePOPs on OS X 10.4 and am using with Thunderbird v2.0.0.21. Activity Monitor verifies that FreePOPs is running. TBird

  7. I think you have used a wrong username. You have to supply the login url also. Go to plugin’s page at freepops and read the instructions carefully. Feel free to write a comment here if it works or not.

  8. I purposely obscured the user name and login url. I’ve verified that these are correct. Our organization is using Exchange Server but I don’t know which version. Neither IMAP or POP are enabled, so OWA is the only option to connect. Is there any information about the server that I could supply to help troubleshoot?

    Thank you so very much.

    Michael

  9. can you give me the login url to check exchenge version? it will also be ideal if you could provide me with a test account

  10. Please help me test this one, I would really like this to work out. https://mymail.allstate.com/exchweb/bin/auth/

  11. It is also my desire to make it work for everyone! The problem is that it works for me :-) What I actually need is brave people to give me their username and password for a few days so I can see the structure of the html of their webmails and make the appropriate changes in the plugin. I know it sounds too much but it is the only way. If you think you can make this step I am available at ilias (.) bravos (at) gmail (dot) com

    Thanks for trying anyway and beware for the upcoming new version.

    cheers

  12. Okay,I am having a little trouble understanding what to do. I am supposed to edit the owa.lua file. Where it says “loginurl”:
    ———–CODE SNIP—————
    PLUGIN_AUTHORS_NAMES = {“Ilias Bravos”}
    PLUGIN_AUTHORS_CONTACTS = {“ilias (.) bravos (at) gmail (.) com”}
    PLUGIN_DOMAINS = {“@owa”}
    PLUGIN_PARAMETERS = {
    {name = “loginurl”, description = {
    ———–END CODE SNIP———–
    I am supposed to replace that with, “username@password?loginurl=http://mymail.allstate.com/eschweb/bin/auth/” ???

    What do I put for the pop3 address in my mail client? What do I put for the Username and Password in my mail client? I know where they go and how to set it up, I just don’t know what the pop3 address and username and password should be inside the mail client.

  13. No, you don’t have to edit owa.lua. you just create an account in your email client and you use username@owa?loginurl=http://mymail.allstate.com/eschweb/bin/auth/
    as the username and your real password as the password. pop3 server must be localhost (or 127.0.0.1) at the port 2000. that’s it

  14. Okay, I have tried it like you stated, and used several addresses. I have not yet got it working. The address supplied was incorrect. The correct address was http://mymail.allstate.com and, https:// for the above address. If you simply log in to the page you will see it also puts a lot of other commands and calls to pages with arguments. I have tried every way and can’t seem to get it to go. Its not my email account, this is for someone else, but I will try to get you a user name and password that you can play with. I will send it via email.

    Thanks so much for the fast response! If this works out you better get a PayPal donate button up!! I will be sending a LOT of happy people your way.

  15. thank you Stephen! it is my pleasure to help. yes, send me a test account and all will be much easier.

    cheers

  16. Did you figure out a solution to the mymail.allstate.com situation? I am very interested in finding out. Please send an E-Mail. Did you set up a Paypal account

  17. Hi,

    I’m trying to get FreePOPs working with owa, but all I get is the message:

    Password not accepted for user
    user@owa?loginurl=https://webmail.server.tld/ on POP server 127.0.0.1.
    The error was: -ERR UNKNOWN ERROR, Please FIX

    (user and server changed)

    The login url in IE is:
    https://webmail.server.tld/CookieAuth.dll?GetLogon?curl=Z2F&reason=0&formdir=6

    Any idea?

    Regards,
    Eto

  19. I’m having trouble connecting to an OWA server – my username format is domain_desc\username – could that be the issue? I have tried using both backslash & %5C and neither work, i.e. domain_desc\user@owa?loginurl=http://mail.server.com/exchange/
    and
    domain_desc%5Cuser@owa?loginurl=http://mail.server.com/exchange/

  20. Username ksjsfspb, (although my mailbox name & email is sknight02@ioe.ac.uk), login address: https://portal.ioe.ac.uk/https/S2.ioead/exchange/ so I’ve set my username in thunderbird to ksjsfspb@owa?loginurl=https://portal.ioe.ac.uk/https/S2.ioead/exchange/ with port 2000 and played between tls and ssl. All I can get is “the connection was refused” errors – any suggestions?

  21. Just discovered actual login address: https://s2.ioe.ac.uk/exchange Now the error is “could not connect to server localhost; the connection was refused”

  22. I get the the same error message “refused”. https://owa.arcla.org/owa

  23. It works partly for me.
    It download emails from my inbox but it doesn’t delete them from the server, so I keep downloading the same emails over and over.

  24. I’m working with Exchange 2003 in Spanish after edit owa.lua to change the language. Doesn’t delete the messages from the server.
    But I cann’t get to work on exchange 2007 with owa virtual directory ………

  25. Hello,
    I’m trying ton connect to an Exchange 2007.
    I use ‘yves.roggeman@owa?loginurl=https://webmail.gov.cfwb.be/’
    But I receive the following Timeout Error:
    Sun Dec 27 11:23:24 2009 freepopsd: ERROR(popserver.c, 180): [24641] Probably the client disconnected.
    Sun Dec 27 11:23:24 2009 freepopsd: ERROR(popserver.c, 181): [24641] Try increasing the client timeout.
    When I use standard web interface, I have to put 2 extra parameters:
    1. Security: I’m using a public or a private computer
    2. Use Outlook Web Access Light
    Maybe this is the source of the problem ?
    Thank you for your help

  26. @Afro
    I am having the same issue, could you please run freepopsd with -w to compare problems

  27. If somebody has a solution for domain-based logins, please share!
    Still no luck in receiving emails from such an account.

  28. Hello, I’m unable to have this plug-in working with the owa2.eng.it site.

  31. Hi, I am trying to use your plugin on Linux (PCLinuxOS) but I have problems installing it. The freepops-updater thing doesn’t work correctly here (shows some errors in AWK), so I downloaded owa.lua from the freepops site and put it in /usr/share/freepops/lua. When I try to use it, freepopsd reports:

    Mon May 3 12:29:48 2010 freepopsd: ERROR(log_lua.c, 70): (@/usr/share/freepops/lua/freepops.lua, 543) : Unable to find a module that handles ‘owa’ domain, requested by ‘crevalMon May 3 12:29:48 2010 freepopsd: ERROR(engine.c, 203): Error calling freepops.init(‘creval%5Cu570082@owa?loginurl=https://webmail.bankadati.it/owa’)LUAY: lua stack image:

    I saw on the homepage that it must be put in the LUA_UNOFFICIAL directory, so I created a /usr/share/freepops/lua_unofficial directory and copied owa.lua there, but I get the same error.

    Please help…

    TIA
    Cris

  32. Lucid? How can I (can i?) use freepops + owa in the latest ubuntu version?
    thanks!

  33. Got it. It was just a matter of updating a configuration file (/etc/freepops/config.lua).
    Thank you.
    Bye
    Cris

  34. Hi, I have problem finding the module as well.
    My configuration in /etc/freepops/config.lua

    freepops.MODULES_MAP["test.com"] = {name=”owa.lua”}

    freepops.MODULES_PREFIX_UNOFFICIAL = {
    os.getenv(“FREEPOPSLUA_PATH_UNOFFICIAL”) or “./”,
    “./lua_unofficial/”,
    “./lua/”,
    –os.getenv(“FREEPOPSLUA_USER_UNOFFICIAL”) or “./”
    “./”
    }

    I put the owa.lua in /usr/share/freepops/ and /usr/share/freepops/lua/ and /usr/share/freepops/lua_unofficial/
    , 3 folders. But the freepops just can’t find where the module is..

    Coulud you please tell me what I can do?

    Thanks

  36. Hi Ilias,

    Thank you for this plug-in. Really helpful.

    However, I did face quite few a problems to get it ‘working’ after few changes (listing the change at the end). However, I am able to get it working, i.e. I can see via bebug logs that my Inbox header has been started downloading. However, it is ends with an error:
    Sat Jul 31 17:00:37 2010 freepopsd: ERROR(popserver.c, 180): [2684] Probably the client disconnected.
    Sat Jul 31 17:09:49 2010 freepopsd: ERROR(popserver.c, 181): [2092] Try increasing the client timeout.

    Not sure where this TimeOut constrain is coming in. Our server for ‘Public Login’ enforces 15 min time out.
    For my email client, I also changes the server time out to 10 min. Still problem is persisting.

    Would you know the reason?

    Thank you,
    Sanjeev

    One small change I did to get it working:
    Commented “body,_ = b:get_uri(host .. ‘/exchange/’, globals.auth)”

  37. cannot get it to work for some reason. I can email screenshots of my configuration if you tell me what email address to use

  42. Using Windows 2003, downloads messages with no problem, but does not delete so messages are downloaded over and over again (I use fetchmail to fetch every 5 minutes so unattended this can be a huge problem).

    freepopsd on vv verbosity reports “DELE OK”. I’m unfamiliar with LUA but would LOVE to get this working as POP/IMAP isn’t supported directly for this account I have.

  43. Is this project still active? I’ve been attempting to use the OWA plugin, but I get a “bad vibes” error message. The only thing in the logs is:

    LUAY: lua stack traceback:

    Please let me know if the project is still active, and if I can provide further info to help debug.

  44. oops – sorry. The actual error message (from thunderbird) is:

    Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server 127.0.0.1 responded: UNKNOWN ERROR, PLEASE FIX

    The log info above is correct, though.

  45. No it is not active. use DAVMAIL, good project. i have to post this… cheers

  46. Wow – thanks for the quick response… And the recommendation – I got DavMail up and running in about 3 seconds. Hooray!

  47. Inventiveness is critical for existence. When you see an excellent artisan cross in to the higher realms,it’s like a element of us went together with him or her. Such is the case with famous graffiti artist Case2 A self-proclaimed “King of Style”, he inspired an entire age group of creativity. Not simply in the world of Graffiti style, Case’s strength imbued adolescents who would someday understand many manners of disciplines. Here is the vintage old school graffiti movie.
